3D electron tomographic reconstruction of the anterior flagellar pocket region and surrounding organelles from a late-M-phase insect-form trypanosome. This reconstruction is derived from a three-serial section tomogram yielding a total of 435 tomographic slices.
By tracing the boundaries of individual organelles and structures, it is possible to generate a full 3D segmentation model, which is shown merged to the tomographic reconstruction. The segmentation model can also be analysed in isolation, such that the relationship between individual organelles and other cellular structures can be investigated in 3 dimensions.
